- VegasBTExplorerWinter can be hit or miss. Less winds than the Fall, but if a cold front pushes through, winds can pick up in a hurry. I've seen 70 MPH gusts on Mt. Charleston (blew the tent the DW and I were sleeping in down, and led to the purchase of our first TT), and 65 MPH gusts with 40 MPH sustained winds at Nellis AFB (not far south of VOF). Again, just keep an eye on the weather. The winds are usually from the south and shift rapidly to the north as the fronts pass through, so picking a campsite with rocks that shelter in those two directions would be wise.

Know that from experince, parked back in a hole in the rocks once, winds blew and the red dirt filled my TC with very fine red dust. Think I'd stay in the open next time.
Just a heads up. Here in southern Nevada one of our main concerns in the autumn is wind. Be sure to keep an eye on the projected wind speeds forecast for your trip. Even when camping, 35 MPH winds with higher gusts swirling in among the rock formations can be no fun at all! - NinerBikesExplorer

Good to note, he is interested in Winter... how are the winds then? - VegasBTExplorerJust a heads up. Here in southern Nevada one of our main concerns in the autumn is wind.
