Yes, the areas need moisture, but without any ground cover left to hold it back, even normal rains will lead to mud slides and flooding.
It's going to get very messy.
For those that have been to the very nice park in Conconully, WA (I think it's a State RV park) it, and the town have been spared, but just barely. It burned all the way around it. Have friends that watched the DC10s firebombing right next to the house.
