Where's Prof and his Perseids?

Early August and Prof Dan is usually talking up spots to view meteors, while I'm looking for a deep cave to hide in. This year I'm considering the salt caverns they store nuclear waste in (blast proof)--I think those are in Utah.

How about Prof Dan? Where's he heading to witness giant balls of rock and ice (and nickel, if memory serves) hurtle towards earth at 20,000 mph?

No thanks! I've been throwing away my nickels for years! Nice and warm in those caverns!

Green, you read my mind! Just got back from a week of backcountry camping in the Eastern Sierra at 9500 feet – the meteors were pretty good this year. A trip report will be ready in several days - still unpacking . . .
