Where to go..

Winding down on our first season with TT. Starting to plan a week long trip for spring and wondering about some "must see" destinations. Need to stay within SE region, possibly up to IL, MN, and we lived in Fl for years, so Disney, etc is not a "must see" for us. After reading some threads around actually looking at Lake Ouachita...so.....let's see what you've got....

And THANKS!
  • Have you been to Desoto State Park in Alabama? Beautiful park and lots to do within an hours drive. Unclaimed baggage Center just north of there and close to Chattanooga. They have great hiking an awesome 100 ft waterfall and you can even learn to rappell. This is our spring trip each year.
    Happy camping.
  • what do you like to do? do you have children with you? Do you like more rustic campgrounds or full hookups?
We like the Hot Springs area. Lake Catherine State Park, DeGray Lake State Park. A commercial campground we like in Hot Springs is Catherine's Landing. So much to do in the area.
How about Branson MO? Sevierville TN?
Michigan also has lots to see and do. Detroit - Ford Museum and theme park, the Upper Peninsula, Macinaw Island and bridge and so much more. One our favorite trips.
  • I would go to Smokey Mountains NP, or somewhere in the Cherokee NF. The Chattanooga and Ashville areas are very nice, too.
  • Pretty general request. Do a Google search for `_______ tourism' and put the area/state/city or other in the blank space. You might even put in Georgia to see what you've missed.
Seems like you could spend a week in Washington, DC.

We are leaving this Friday for Desoto. We go every year in early Nov.
Alabama's best state park. Joe Wheeler State Park in northwest Ala. is also a great place.

Double ditto. Western NC is beautiful.
  • Appreciate all the feedback thus far...Yeah, I know, very general request. No kids, and we love the areas of Chattanooga, western NC, and N Ga, but we can do those in long weekends and want this to be more of an "away" trip. We are leaning heavily to Hot Springs area. This is one of the problems of not knowing what you don't know, if that makes sense. Just looking to hear what others have done and enjoyed that we maybe haven't thought about as of yet.
