Which are short term sites at Gulf State Park?

We have reservation starting Thanksgiving, and running the week after, at Gulf State Park, Alabama.

When we made the res they said that short term stays, you didn't get a picked site. That you pick from available short term spots when you get there.

My question, is there a particular, road, area, or loop, of the campground that is for short term sites ? I am just kind of curious of where we will be.

Thanks, Ken
  • Just a follow up.

They did have a site assigned to us. It is on the main road, but a nice site.

We were met with an extra $7.00 per day "resort fee", that apparently Alabama has placed on this state park sometime since we made our reservation in August. An email, or some kind of notice would have been nice.

    Thanks, Ken
  • The sooner you show up re check in time the more sites you will have to choose from. We have gotten a waterfront site several times. The list of open sites will include sites anywhere in the park. With a reservation, we have even been allowed to check in before official check in time so won't hurt to ask.
  • Thanks for the quick response.

We haven't ever been to Gulf Shores area and am really looking forward to spending some time here, even if it is "short term". :)

    Thanks, Ken
  • Short term is anything NOT waterfront. The waterfront sites are reserved for snowbirds apparently. We have reservations for spring break. We were told that when we arrived, IF there was a waterfront site open we could have it. I'm sure when you register they will let you choose from available sites. There are no bad sites in that park in my opinion. It is a delightful spot!
