Escapees is a good organization, but at $70 for the first year it is harder to recoup your investment. They only have about 19 parks that are owned/controlled by them. They recently raised their rates and opened some of the parks to the general public at a still reasonable rate. I have not encountered one of their 50% discount parks that does not also participate in Passport America and Passport America has a lot more participating parks. The restrictions on the 50% discount are generally the same for both Escapees and Passport America. Almost all of their 15% discount parks are also Good Sam parks so the difference is not all that much. If you decide you are interested in Escapees, check to see if they still give a discount for Good Sam members. You may be able to get a Good Sam membership and the first year of Escapees for less than the $70 for an Escapees membership if you buy the Good Sam membership first.

All of the discount organizations are only worth it if they have participating parks in places where you want to go and the discounts are valid when you will be there.

Passport America.

We saved $540 this Feb with the Passport America card. Lucky to find a campground in Central FL with no restrictions. Other campgrounds in the area were in the $50-60 a night range, possibly 10% off or stay 7 and pay for 6 nights. Regular rate was 54, saved $27 a night for 20 nights.
You just have to watch there time restrictions, some no weekends, some rule out all summer.

We also use Good Sam and KOA.

We use Passport for our overnight stops on long trips. However we have also been able to get some huge discounts at premium destinations with Passport. It definitely quickly pays for itself quickly. We also use our Good Sam 10% discount as it is offered by most campgrounds. We do have a KOA card but it is not our favorite chain to stay at. We feel it is over priced, usually an older campground and many times far from level sites.

We promote Passport America on our website and have even given away one of their memberships, but it is best for hose that full time, those who can predominately camp during the week, and if you are flexible on where you are gong to. Was looking to use it for a stop over trip to Destin, but there are really no decent parks where we want to stop. And any that might be worth the discount don't allow it on a Saturday night. We will probably use a COE park instead.

We have almost the same as sdianel and would give the same advice. We don't have KOA, have only stayed at 2 of their parks in 8 years of fulltiming. They are always overpriced for what you get. We use Passport America first, then Good Sam. We also stay at casinos, Cabela's and some city/county parks listed in Don Wright's Free Campgrounds books, they are mostly low cost parks.

We have Good Sam, Passport America, KOA and America the Beautiful Senior Pass. For Passport America half price camping, find a campground that you think you might go to on their website, look at the restrictions and the price and see if the card will pay for itself in 10-15 days. Ours always does but we full time.
