Stayed at SVC couple of times.....
Always get the spiel about joining/membership at check in and I just ask "WHY....I'm staying here for $10/nite using my RPI and I only come here once a year?"

We've only been to the desert once when the blooms were early enough for us to see, DH didn't come with us, so DD & I took an all day hike around the Cottonwood area at Joshua Tree. We took so many pictures of flowers that it took us forever to do our hike, but it was a fun mother-daughter thing to do!

It's cooled down now! 32 right now in Joshua Tree, was below 70 in Palm Springs yesterday.

i agree that skinner lake is great. also, try santee lakes just a little north and east of s. diego.

I have a feeling the weather will be cooling down, probably be in the 70's for the next few weeks, no need to move, the weather will get better as winter arrives.
