Has anyone stayed at Witch Meadow Lake Campground located in Salem, CT? We are thinking of reserving a week there for next August. We will be traveling from MD in our brand new Hybrid along with our dog Lucky. Appreciate any input as well as preferences on sites, hoping for waterfront on the lake. Thanks friends, have a fabulous week! Sue :C

Hi Sue, we just got back from West Thompson Lake last weekend, all the electric sites have 30 amp. This is our 3rd trip there in the past 4 yrs. I run my A/C heavily... never had an issue or have any of the camp host ever say a thing about the power.

We always take our kayaks with us for the lake. Also they have miles of easy & scenic trails around the lake.

As far as Witch Meadow I think we actually stayed in site 186 back 16 years ago in our popup, "If" I remember that area the sites were some what small but level ( mostly because the sites were level to the lake)

A lot of CT campgrounds have gray water hookups. what you need to buy is a 3inch X hose adapter that fits right on your gray/black water outlet on you trailer. When your at the campground then just run a cheap/old garden hose to the gray water connection on the ground with your gray water "only" valve open. camping world sells the adapters or any local RV parts store...there very common.

Witch Meadow has had some power issues with the larger (50amp) RV's, just be aware.

Don't forget to check out the reviews on both campgrounds at http://www.rvparkreviews.com (some of the reviews on West Thompson are mine)

Hey Mike, thanks for the reply! I was looking into West Thompson Lake Campground which sounded wonderful but they do not allow air conditioning (I called them asking questions and she told me air conditioning blows their power) so worried that our stay in mid August may be too hot even with the bed ends unzipped. What do you think? As far as Witch Meadow goes we have no little ones, she is all grown up now and not fishing just chillin maybe a kayak that's about it. Looking into sites 186 and 188 which look like nice sized lots but of course that can be deceiving lol Wondering if the sites along the shore line are pretty level vs in the trees etc. One other thought... any idea what they mean by "All grey water hookups must use 3/4 inch hose." We have a new hybrid that has a large opening for the grey and black how to do you hook up a 3/4" hose to something like that we are new to the grey water and black water thing this year. Thanks so much for your help and patience!! Sue

Hi Sue

We did both seasonal and transient there, out last trip was in 06. Witch Meadow is a better campground if you are a younger camping family with kids. The lake front sites are nice, water, electric & gray water. Campground is clean and decently maintained, some sites are not very level or large and some sites might be tough to get into with the larger RV's but I think you will be okay with your hybrid. Don't count on any decent fishing in the lake...bullheads and sunnys that's it.

Owner doesn't pull any punches, She will not tolerate any trouble makers. (There's a reason why she's called the head witch ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) That said as long as you use common sense you should be fine.

If your looking for something quiet by a lake, look into this also, West Thompson Lake Campground

Post back or send me a PM if you have any pacific questions on Witch Meadow lake campground
