Andersen Levelers

After getting these levelers for the trailer I had to remove 1" of material from the pointed end of the leveler that goes between the wheels. I also beveled the pointed end and rounded the bottom back corner on my bench mounted belt sander.

The pull cords were added to make it very easy for my DW to pull the levelers out as I slowly back off of them. Works great.

I installed the big level on the trailed so that I can see it from the drivers side rear window. Sure makes leveling easy.

Also shown is the cheap but very effective chock that I built. Of course, one for each side.

I've been using the Anderson levelers for years with no problems as well. However, if one should ever break, I imagine I'll simply make a new one out of wood using the Anderson as a pattern. Pull cords are a great idea as well. I have always worried about DW's hands reaching in to remove chocks.

While we already cracked the chock part with a 10K fiver, I love the Andersen levelers as they are so much faster and easier than the Lynx blocks we've always used. I see on their site that you can order the chocks separately. I do agree that they should redesign to make them stronger. And thanks for the rope trick, RVCircus!

I have the aluminum Andersen ultimate 5th wheel hitch which adapts goosneck to kingpin. I love it, it's only 38 lbs. I can put in and out in just 2 minutes by myself. From what I have read, their customer service is second to none. I wouldn't hesitate to buy these chocks and I just might.

definitely putting pull cord idea into use, when I get the trailer off the levelers... I use mine almost all the time. so wonderful for someone who travels and sets up by themselves..

The cords have been very handy. All she does is put a little tension on them and they pop out when they are ready.

We have the Andersen Levelers & Rapid Jack and they work great on our <7,000 TT, but I like the idea of the aluminum EZ Jack. I won't spend $130/pair just to try them out, but if my Andersen levelers or jack fail I'd give it a shot.

I also just took some measurements and weighed the Andersen jack and they're off a little bit from what they advertise.

Looks like Andersen exaggerates the capacity of everything they build. 32# 5er hitch rated at 24K, I don't think so.

I would never use those levelers since they are known to break. Simple 10x10 pcs of plywood in various thicknesses worked for me for many years.

Not even close. They need to redesign them, in my opinion.

May I ask how are you breaking them?

Weight. My 34' fiver tips the scales at around 14.5. They fracture at the 'belly button' while sitting. Very scary loud bang!

I think the 14.5 may be the problem. My trailer loaded for travel is about 4500#.

Looks like the levelers function as chocks and the other is not really needed.

I agree with you but since it only takes a few minutes to put the chocks in place I do it anyway. You know, belt and suspenders.
