Sound Guy I have slowly gravitated to your way of thinking. AGM's have come down in price considerably from what I Remember. I plan to buy 2 AGM to replaces my flooded batteries.
For the longest time I felt the cost of AGMs was difficult to justify but I sort of got forced into it when my aged G27 flooded finally went to battery heaven and I needed to replace it. Problem was, I had in the interim installed a 1000 watt PSW inverter in the trailer's front pass through cargo compartment and as a result the shortest I could make the cables from it to the tongue mounted battery location was 6' so voltage drop under heavy load was noticeable. That's when I finally decided to make my next battery AGM so I could locate it beside the inverter and therefore shorten the cables to just 18" and minimize VD. Located as it is the battery is now difficult to reach but since it's a sealed AGM that needs no attention other than correct charging this concern became moot. I'd now not buy flooded as the advantages of AGM over flooded are now so clear to me, despite the cost.
