Battery compartment vent

Question

I am in the process of installing new batteries(6). I cleaned all the dirt and sand out of the compartment and repainted. This compartment is located behind the rear wheels so lots of dirt and sand comes up into the compartment through the 2 inch vent hole in the bottom of the compartment. I want to install some type filter that will stop the sand and dirt but still provide ventilation. Any ideas??

Use regular large coarse steel wool. Use one of these to push the steel wool into. Just cut your vent hole to fit. Doug

Get a sponge and fit it in the hole.
