There really has been a lot of concern over my using the zip ties. Yes, they may not be UV rated but I have used them in other outdoor applications for many years with no breakage problems. The two on the trailer have traveled over 6000 miles in a year and a half without any sign of deterioration. I did add two new ones and will replace all 4 at the first sign of deterioration. I have plenty of these heavy duty zip ties in the trailer.
The only thing I have to watch is to not press the PVC cap on too much. It can be a bear to twist off. Actually the only reason that I use the cap is to keep rain out of the PVC pipe. Glad you folks liked the block idea. Post some photos of your new block installation.
