Converting U-shaped dinette to free standing. Any tips?

Picking up our trailer from storage next week. Over the winter we decided we wanted to switch to a free standing table and chairs. For the people that have done this, is there any advice that you could give about things you didn't expect to come across in this project? I have to go down to the local dealer to look at a few tables they have that they've swapped out and see if they're anything we like. My main concern is what the floor and wall looks like when I start removing the dinette. Any tips, advice is appreciated.
  • We did it. Losing storage wasn't an issue as we still have empty cabinets in our 5th wheel. Main thing will be the screw holes and trim that need to be patched up. Another thing is whats the slide floor made of? If it's just a 3/4" piece of plywood then the table may wiggle as people step on and off the slide floor to sit. If it's thicker then it shouldn't be an issue.
We found our table and chairs at a local furniture store. You'll want a base that can be screwed down to the floor for travel.
  • We did it and love it, but you do give up storage area for large items. Like everything in rv'ing there is give and take.
  • I have really wanted to do this but don’t want to lose the storage from inside the benches. We have a small pine ikea table at home that would fit perfect.

Thanks. That shouldn't be a problem. Dinette is located in a slide with no heat or power running through it. Benches have drawer storage underneath.
