dinette table mod

I just bought a 5th wheel with an L shaped dinette seating with a folding table. The seating is ok but we definitely don't like the folding table. I am thinking of replacing it with a larger table top and using the tube supports with the aluminum "cup" type receiver anchored to the floor. My concern is that this dinette is located on one of the slide outs. I assume that there is only a very small space between the slide out floor and the trailer floor so I won't be able to use the recessed type "cup" for the tube to slide into, it would surely drag on the trailer floor. So, I would have to use the type that sticks up, which we will be constantly tripping on when the table isn't in place. Also, I don't know how thick the slider floor is and whether short wood screws would do the job. Has anyone ever tried anchoring one of these to a slider floor? I'd much rather drill straight through, use machine screws with a large washer and nut but can't see how I could get under the slider floor to do this. Any suggestions?
  • In my case, my slider floor is 1" thick and you are looking at the bottom of the floor from outside with the slide out. I don't have much room for bolt heads on mine. Make sure you don't put them where the rollers roll.
  • I don't even have the new trailer yet and it never occurred to me to go under the slideout once it was open. There might be more access than I thought. We get it next weekend so I'll check it out.
    thanks
  • Why not just get a free standing table and remove the cup supports completely? Get a table that folds up so you can get it out of the way if you want.
  • That's what it came with. A table with folding legs. The slider floor has two levels of carpet where the legs rest and it's not very stable.
  • I used those aluminum post supports for a year or so. The movement of the table eventually caused the post to crack and break off inside the cup, twice.

I now use a pair of folding table legs that support the table better and allow the table to be moved anywhere, including outside.
