I need to run some 12vdc fans for one night in our camper while we sleep in warmer weather with no electric. My first thought was to take a light fixture down and wire it in to the wires on the light ...

I now use the O2COOL 10-inch portable fan (LOWES-WALMART) like mentioned above that will run from 120VAC, 12VDC, or D-CELLS installed inside the fan.
Much better thing to have for us... I carry two of them on my trips.
We use 2 of these O2COOL fans in our TT and they work great. inexpensive and run on 8 D-cell batteries.
