External auxiliary potable water tank recommendations?

Finally got the trailer on a great lot, great location. Seasonal campground owner supplies electrical but no water or sewer hookups. Instead he comes around and dumps grey/black tanks and fills freshwater tank.

I want to install an auxiliary external water tank system. I would appreciate any suggestions/recommendations on how to do so and cautionary notes.

    something like this ?

    Tank Depot
  • Thanks for these ideas. I found a 1000L tank online similar to some I have seen in use by other seasonal campers here since my original post. Wish I knew how to embed a pic in this post. I plan to live full time in the trailer next summer and want to have plenty on hand for use inside and with an outdoor shower I hope to rig up.

Good points mentioned though... pump, cover, algae concerns. Thanks.

I was thinking something like this but I don't know how much you want to store or what your water access will be.
    Portable water bladder.

This is the one I have. I also have a "spare" Shur-Flo pump with hose ends attached so I can pump it into my fresh water tank.
  • Whatever you do, cover the FG plastic drum with black plastic or the sunlight will grow algae in the water...
  • Either the potable water plastic drums in 15, 30 or 50 gallon sizes for at the trailer and then one of the water bags for easy storage when not in use.

You can sometimes find the water drums on Craigs List from different food business. There's 25 on our CL from a baker for $20 ea.

Then get a cheap water pump. This could be a cheap 110V from Harbor Freight to a little pump that goes in the end of a drill motor from any hardware store.

    Food grade plastic barrel.

X2. I mounted a demand pump on mine and keep it in the bed of my truck. Can use it to fill the tank, or hook it up and run directly from it.
