Greasing bell crank on W20 Workhorse chassis

Question

Has anyone ever modified the bell crank on a workhorse chassis to add a grease nipple. Work horse in their 2006 chassis guide indicates it can be done, but no details.

Can a person just drill and tap the shaft and install a grease nipple?

I installed one on mine. I couldn't raise the shaft up as high on mine as Omeys info said I could. There is a metal piece over it in the way.
I had a friend with a blind tap that let me tap the hole without damaging the shaft.

I may  be late on this post, buy yes it can be dune, even on a National where a plate is in front of the bell crank. I was working just by feeling around. I drilled it small, then bigger, then used a flat tap to thread the cert.
