But I hate the friggin stand they sell for it..You have to know origami to fold it....if you succeed at getting it folded, it doesn't store flat bc of the wheels....blah blah blah....so today I dove into a simple Sunday build. Had a good bit of select pine laying around the garage, a quick trip for some hardware, and:Didn't want to make it too big, but wanted to have some space to set plates/pans when needed.....because my 2nd least favorite part of this grill is the useless side tables (long ago removed) they can't hold a beer. And it folds flat for storage. Need to add a couple hooks for tools, may conjure up a lantern hook as well. Plan on just finishing with some spar urethane. Nice job. One of the reason I went with a Coleman vs. the Weber Q is the stand.I agree the Weber is more substantial grill and probably cooks better however the stand is kind of bogus and cumbersome. If the weather came with a nice folding stand like the one you made I would own one.

We have never used a stand. We either put it on a picnic table or one of our 4' folding tables

Hey nice table there!That select pine lumber sure is nice and straight.Did you have to plane any of the wood?I'd kind of like to make a table like you have done in a larger version that folds like a suitcase for puzzles.Great job!You must be a pro woodworker.

I have the same Weber stand. It is great for entertainment when someone new comes along. Get out the grill and point the new guy to the stand and ask them to just set it up. Stand back, watch and laugh.:)

Nice job on the new stand. You might want to put a few coats of poly on it before it gets to greasy for easy cleanup.

I like your table. Good job. We use a 2 ft. x 4 ft. white plastic folding table. I use a piece of plywood and put the Baby Q on the plywood on the end of the table. Don't want to melt the plastic. That leaves us enough room to eat at the same table when boondocking.

we bought a foldable plastic table about the same size as the one you built. Folds almost flat. prob 2 inches thick, Easy clean up. No wheels, but can live with out them. Usually use the picnic table, but did find a campground about a month ago that said "no BBQ's on the tables".

Trial and error!

I built the legs so they sort of nest around each other. You'll notice in the pic that the cross brace on the left-side legs is on the "inside" of the leg That folds in first so it's flat against the underside leaving more room for the other side to fold in. The right side legs are actually narrower by one board-width on each side so they then fit inside the other set. They don't actually get perfectly flat (I may notch them so they do), but because the legs are narrower stock than the skirt frame of the top they still fit inside the overall box when folded in.

Yes. As I understand it, the oil in bulk propane clogs the regulator.

I've got the same Q and rolling cart, about 9 years old and love it. Were we differ is I love the stand too. Easy to set up once you become familiar with it IMO.

Nice work BTW on your homemade stand. Looks awesome.

Ha - thanks for the kind words, but I'm not a pro. Just more ambition than talent....and the kreg jig makes joinery dead simple and strong.

No planer needed on this job (one of the reasons I tend to get select grade is bc I don't have a planer).

I'm on my third gas regulator on my 3 year old Weber Q200! I use the Weber wheeled stand and a 20lb tank. I like the grill, but not the regulator reliability.

Is this a common problem for this model?

Also note the creative use of my Lynx Leveler for RV Leveling Blocks ...
