Installing solar panels on roof of my Bounder

I am planning to install solar panels on the roof of my Bounder. I call Fleetwood and they said that the plywood is 1/8" thick. I have seen panels installed on other RV's, including Bounders, and it looks as though the installation went well. In fact, most of the folks that I have seen installing the panels (youtube videos) don't seem to even screw into structural members.

For those of you who have installed panels, can you tell me how you secured your panels to the roof? For those who attached only to structural members (like the ribs, etc), how did you locate those members?

I believe they were 1" or 1 1/4" and I used nylon lock nuts on the bolts

I used Eternabond tape under the bracket, then Dicor between the ape and the bracket, and over the screw heads.

Light duty cemet safe for rubber a contractor purchased for me. More just to help "freeze and lock" the screw. Wouldn't glue at all if I were to do it again with my rubber roof.

did this last summer, cleaned the rubber roof in the area of the foot location for each panel. Each foot had a 3m tape already installed on each foot, stuck them to the roof, then screwed each foot down with SS pan head screws, last, used Dicor self leveling on top of the screws and edges of each foot.

Here is a visual, this is mine #10 stainless screws 3 each bracket there are 6 per panel(yes they are big panels) put Dicor down and then screw the brackets down the when all screwed in more Dicor.

Butyl tape goes under the brackets. Dicor goes over the top. It you put Dicor under, and ever have to remove the bracket, good luck doing so without tearing the roof membrane.

I made homemade brackets, put dicor under the bracket, screwed the bracket with some short #10 stainless screws (mine is sandwich roof so their are no structural members), and then covered with dicor. 3 years so far, and absolutely no indication they are coming off.

Glue, screw and Dicor. No problems not attaching to structural members. You will love your solar system.
