The hole should be just big enough in diameter to insert the screw. Insert the screw through the bumper and the square plastic plug.
It is now impossible for the hoses to fall out.
I sort of did the same except used a piece of coat hanger wire instead of a bolt. Just dropped it thru the bumper and cap and counted on gravity to hold it in place, it always stayed.
Exactly the same thing I did (clothes hanger wire), works like a charm.-
