RDS auxiliary diesel tank

I have an RDS 32 gallon diesel tank in the bed of my truck. It has a manual fuel level guage in the top of it but to see it I have to open the bed cover and that is not possible if I am towing my 5th wheel. I wonder if it is possible to put an electric gauge with the meter on the dash of my truck???

I had the same thing. Then one day it hit me. I remember when I replaced the sending unit in my boat. When I got home and looked at it. It was the same diameter and same number of bolt holes. So I looked in a boat book and ordered a universal tank unit and a gauge to mount under the dash. I have been using it since 2007 and it works great. No more guessing .
  • My IDC is not very accurate...the mpg is off and the gal remaining is also off. I doubt if there is a way to calibrate it.....
  • Mine is a gravity feed. When RDS tank runs out main fuel gauge will then start to drop.
  • How big is your truck tank. It would seem to me you would hardly need a gauge. Just wait till you get close to empty and open it. Also does your truck have a fuel usage gauge. When I am using my RDS 50 gallon tank I reset the fuel used meter at every fill and I know pretty much exactly how many gallons I have used.
