removing the stove and replace wit cabinet

My DW has no plans on using the stove/oven. she has asked about removing and giving her some more storage. We use an induction cooktop and a convection oven in place of the gas stove oven so don't really see any sense in keeping it.

Has anyone done this before? I'm looking for suggestions and ideas for this mod.

thanks

I wouldn't worry about "ease of returning to stock"...make the mod you like and sell the oven on eBay.

A quick look on eBay says you can get $300 or so for your OEM oven. I would replace the over either with an induction cooktop like this one for about $200 or a gas cooktop like this one for about $100.

If you like using the induction cooktop, then I would find one that you could build in. If you stay with a gas cooktop, then you can connect to the existing gas line for the stove. Either way, you keep a cooktop and can still make the space below into a cabinet.

We use our oven a fair amount....when we're boondocking without power, it's nice when the weather is bad to make a meatloaf out of the hamburgers, or cook a roast, etc, and stay inside where it's dry instead of braving teh weather to BBQ. Even on nice days, we sometimes make a batch of cookies or brownies after dinner in the oven.

We mostly use the microwave as a breadbox....

At any rate I would sell the oven and make the RV how you like it. Don't worry about returning to OEM, there are plenty of buyers that would love this kind of mod!

I don't worry about resale to future buyers
I do concern myself, with my own Possible uses
Do you every need Emg, housing, power outages, etc..
Ours came without an oven, just the cook top and the MW/convection oven
We use MW about 90% of our cooking, but we do use the burners also
And in an Emg housing situation, burners use a lots less fuel than running a generator to make electricity to power an induction cook top

I might remove the oven but, I would build a cover for the burners, and keep them
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

Our Monaco came equipped with a cooktop and micro/convection. The area below the cooktop looks just like the other cupboards - 2 doors. Open them and there is a shelf and a very large drawer. I like this area a lot as all my pots/pans/lids/crockpot/baking sheets etc fit there.

As time goes by more will opt out for an oven. I went on an online search for a Newmar (several models) and looked at about a dozen or so units. It turned out that about half were on the west coast the rest scattered around the east. All but one in the east had a stove. None from the west coast did. We currently use our oven as a bread box. We are the third owners and the oven has never been used. We have never used the stovetop in the three plus years we've had it. Net of all this is there are a lot of buyers out there that won't use the oven.

Should be quite straightforward; the stove is held in with a few easily accessible screws. You will of course need to cap off or otherwise close the gas line. (It is typically connected to the stove with a flare fitting under the top, which hinges up for access. Some of the mounting screws are probably under there as well.)

will retain the appliance for future buyer and plan on making the mod easy to switch back to factory. Have had the TT 2 years now and oven never used stove only used to bleed the gas line for the fridge.

Any concern about prospective buyers opinions of the mod when you go to sell it?

Around 2008 there was problems with the ovens in many units. The factory replaced the oven with draws, and a stove top. You may be able to find pictures.

the only issue would be your carpentry ability. I ordered my last MH without the oven, use the micro/convection. removing the gas range could be an issue if you boondock a lot.???
