I used molly rivets to attach the awning rail and brackets to the slide , they will expand out in a triangular wing pattern on the back side providing the necessary support , dometic calls them Oscar rivets

How did you determine if there was anything there to "bite" into under the drip rail on the aide of the trailer where you attached?

Any way to really know if the screws you are using are too long or might protrude on the inside?
