Slideout Topper

The toppers on my slideouts are beginning to fray from the wind. Any ideas on how to repair them.
  • Buy new material and replace them. Not difficult to do, but it is helpful to have a helper.
  • I replaced two toppers and it is not that hard to do it. But go to goggle and there are several You Tube that show step by step on how to do it.

I ordered from Tough Tops awning the material and it is the best I have seen.
  • +3 on YouTube. They have all sorts of videos and step by steps on how to replace a slide topper! I had my DW help me, so it's really a 2 person job.
  • DW and I did two toppers from tough tops. watch the video first. we're still married, so it went well!!
  • When mine started to fray I used duct tape along the edges applied to top and bottom. This is certaintly not a permanent fix but it worked for a camping season for me. I eventually replaced them as posted in prior posts but it did slow down the fraying. I was able to match the colors without a problem and was barely noticeable. Good luck. Don.
  • I agree utube and tough tops. I bought two slide toppers for less than I could buy 1 OEM
  • I took mine to a place that does boat covers. In three days I had a new topper that fit perfectly and the total cost was less than the online outlets. Surprisingly the fabric used on the RV toppers is readily available from numerous suppliers around the country.
