Sofa upgrade

Our View has a standard jack-knife sofa but DW won't use it due to the channel down the middle for the hinge.

Has anyone upgraded to a sofa where that channel is eliminated or at least reduced greatly?
  • Do you have enough floor space for a hide-a-bed type sofa? Our Class C has a jackknife but since we don't have a slide, there wouldn't be enough floor space to fold out more. At least not without totally blocking the aisle.
  • Only the sleeping. DW won't use the overhead bed nor the sofa. She prefers the dinette over either one. On the other hand I can sleep almost anywhere.

Are you uncomfortable when trying to sleep or just sitting?
  • A swimming noodle split down the center can be placed in the center with a foam mattress pad over it and it no longer feels uncomfortable according to a friend.

Someone told me that they used an air mattress but I have not tried that.

We have room for five to sleep without using it so we have not had to use the sofa to sleep on.
  • My last RV had one of those Jack Knife sofas and it was the most uncomfortable thing to sleep on,what we used was Something Like This and put a good quality unziped sleeping bag over it then made up a regular bed, sheets and blankets.

It stored away fairly easy and it was a lot better but not great.
  • Don't like ours but if you need as a bed try an inexpensive egg crate pad on top. It doesn't work well with just a sheet, but if your laying a sleeping bag down, it's not bad.
