I was putting new Maxx Air vent covers on the vents of the TT and and was drilling the holes for the brackets. Put the drill to one side, but not far enough to one side and it fell over and hit the vent cover and shattered it into little pieces. the Maxx air is OK it is the crank up one that broke. sure enough it is the one for the bathroom and not an easy one to describe to the operator to get a new one, sure enough she told me wrong. glad I caught it before I ordered it. I went ahead and put the Maxx air in place since it suppose to rain today. that was the good thing about this, at least I had the vent covered.

I think if there is anyone here on the forum who HASN'T pulled some bonehead thing and damaged something, they would be in the vast minority.

I've done a few classics myself, like backing my truck into my open awning and wrecking an arm. Or the time I was putting my TT away in the dark and backed it into a pole on one corner, crumpling the siding and pulling the awning arm out at the base.

Vent lid is a cheap and easy fix!

Ouch, at least my last venture on the stupid side didn't cost me anything.

We went out to the storage yard to clean the trailer so I was going to start up the generator for power and AC. Put some gas in it, turn on the fuel valve, set the choke and start pulling, and pulling and pulling. When my shoulder couldn't take it any more, Honey started pulling the cord. The $62 generator that rarely took two pulls to start just would not run and even Honey said it was time for a new one just before asking me why the fuel thingy said off.
Sure enough I hadn't turned it off after draining it the last time but did when I thought I was tuning it on. It took two pulls of the cord after the fuel was turned on and any chance of me getting a shiny new inverter generator this year was gone and I was sooooo close. lol

Those things get so brittle that in AZ they shatter when you stare at them. My wife left the fridge door open during a pit stop and I did not discover it until 3 hours later. Beat the******out of the wood door.

And I managed to back through a 6 Foot High Wooden fence that was no where near where I wanted to park!

My neighbours were not impressed!

Are we related? Sounds exactly like something I would, do the mod and then a repair from what I oops'd on while doing it.:S

I have one I like to repeat from time to time - I'm messing around the "slide side" compartments of the toyhauler, then go in and put the bedroom slide out, then promptly hit my head on it 2 mins later.

If it was me the drill would have fell in the hole broke punched a hole in the floor then bounced up and broke the shower door or something like that. Sounds to me it needed replacing any way.

Old Guy,
The wife and I were just in Beaverton a week ago and could have given you a hand. Don't get me started on the dumb things I've done.

There are several different hinge designs on the crank up vent lids. Best bet is to take the old one with you so you can match it up at the local dealer or Camping World.

"Stupid is as Stupid Does"?

Sorry, Old Guy- that's not nearly as stupid as my most recent fiasco. It can't possibly top my pulling in to situate my trailer with the best possible view of the Umatilla River and putting a clearly visible branch through a trailer window in the process.

Now, THAT is stupid! :S

Nothing that duct tape couldn't cure for the rest of the trip, though. Thank heavens that the window is a jalousie!
