Suggestions for upgraded FM antenna?

In our Jayco TT we have a Sony DVD/CD/FM stereo with a single wire antenna that doesn't pick up much for radio stations (depending on location, of course). Are there any options for an upgraded antenna that will work with this, possibly something amplified? This is what the plug looks like, and I have no issues splicing to this plug if needed.

Thanks-
Dan
  • You'll need to figure out what you wish to receive, the capabilities of any station that you have to have, and any mobile considerations that you are under. Generally, putting an antenna as high as you can will be the best. FM is tuned to certain frequencies and antenna construction that enables those will be the best.

I have one Jazz station that I like to listen to that is underpowered and may broadcast in a poor direction for my reception. I overcame that by building a J-pole antenna using copper pipe and I have it tuned to the frequency range of that station. I still pick up all the rest but am now able to tune in the little jazz broadcast.

Good luck with your antenna search.
