Took my own advice :)
Several people have asked what they should do to their roof on their older RVs and where appropriate, I have recommended using an elastomeric - I have used it frequently on mobile homes in the desert to good effect.
My 95 Newmar original came with a rubber roof, it must have failed as the PO had changed it out to a rolled sheet of aluminum. It was professionally installed but boy did it get hot here in the Desert. Also I noticed that it was buckling as it expanded because it was getting so hot.
I started by doing all of the seams with 4" wide Eternabond and left for a week and then washed the roof done this morning. By later pm it was bone dry and I rolled a thin layer of elastomeric on and left it to dry for a couple of hours. I just finished the second coat, rolling at 90 degrees to the first and tomorrow pm I will do a third and final coat. I'll post up a photo when done.
I bought a 4.75 gallon bucket (what happened to the other .25 I don't know) and by the time I have finished I will have used about 2/3 of the bucket used up. That's on a 38' coach.
It goes on easily, creates a nice finish and I am sure will help reduce the heat soak on the roof. I bought the Henrys EnviroWhite from Home Depot which is a little more expensive at $109 a bucket but has an extreme white color and resists ponding water which is important for the AC runoff.
