I am trying to revive my Dometic Servel RGE400 fridge once again.
I just had the cooling unit repaired a second time (under warranty).
The repair guy wrote back to me the following:
"your unit was plugged. We cut the boiler off, flushed it and recharged it.
It is now working correctly (we tested it)"
After putting it all back together, it isn't working. I run it only on electricity.
Last night when I plugged it in for over 8 hours
the fridge wasn't getting cold.
The top pipe was slightly warm but all the others were at room temp.
I'm looking for tips that I should look for/do?
Notes that might help:
1: The delivery guy left the unit in front of my garage door and I drove my car
into it, moving the crate a few feet. The wood crate had a few chips to it, but the unit
didn't have any visible damage.
2. This time when I inserted the cooling unit into the fridge, the fins didn't end up in the perfect position. They are not flush with the frame on one side. Off by about .5".
3. The thermostat control rod hasn't been working for a couple of years so I need to adjust it manually.
I thought it might have been on the off position, so I moved it over one notch. It didn't help.
One more question. There are two small tubes attached to the heating stack tube.
They look very similar and I wasn't sure which one to put the heating element into.
Does it fit/work in both or must it be placed only in one of these small tubes?
Could this be the problem?

Well the solution wasn't obvious at all.
I had to go back to my notes from a couple years ago to get some ideas.
When I got back the cooling unit then, installed everything and turned it on,
it didn't work then either.
I was having problems connecting the control rods at the bottom of the fridge,
so only installed the ones I needed: thermostat control and gas/off/electric.
For some reason the far switch was set to gas or off two years ago and that's why
the fridge didn't turn on. I only use electric.
So I focused on the controls again. For some reason this time I thought the far switch
was the thermostat. I turned it to a position I thought would be a good temperature.
Little did I know I had turned the fridge Off again!
After I got that straightened out, the fridge still didn't work!
I was running out of ideas now. A last ditch attempt. I turned the fridge upside down and then
back upright. It finally worked! ๐
