Wiring how to? Installing new digital thermostat

Have some questions on the wiring on my 5th thermostat wiring vs the new digital thermostat wiring. I've included some pictures of the existing wiring and the new mounting plate for wiring the new thermostat. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • My first question would be, are you trying to install a new RV thermostat that controls both furnace and ceiling AC? It looks like you have a residential heat pump thermostat.
  • This is my current unit and my new therm. I'm not sure of the make of the a/c unit. I bought a honeywell fth7500d. It works with heat, cool and heat pumps. I'm full time in south fl and don't really need heat. The heat blower motor kicks on if you turn it on, but I don't have any propane to test if it works. I'm only concerned about the a/c cooling to work.

From what I've read I can just hook up the high or the low fan wire to the therm and only that one would work. I was researching and found I could wire both to a 3 way switch and then on to the therm if I wanted both speeds

  • Brown covered bundle with Green, white, red/orange & blue----only Green & Red/Orange used.
Green wire to G (which connected to green on old t-stat)
Red/Orange? wire to Y (which connected to yellow on old t-stat)

Blue & White---connected to Grey not used.......tape them off
    Blue is 12V (-)
Grey is Fan Low Speed (Green is High Speed)

Single Red wire to Rh with jumper wire between Rh and Rc. (which connected to Red on old t-stat)
Single White wire to W (which connected to white on old t-stat)

This should give you Heat and A/C with High Fan
  • Thanks old biscuit. Tried your first post and I got the fan to run, but I didn't wire like you had posted.

Brown bundle: Red is my yellow, white is my low, green is my high and blue is 12v neg I assume.

    Single white, not sure of.
    Single red shows 12v pos

I'll try your revision later today when it cools off a little.
