2014 Springdale reviews

Looking for reviews on the 2014 / 2015 Springdale ( 253fwregl )5th wheel. I'm thinking about getting one, however I can not find any end user reviews. And why is this a " entry level " unit, I like the way it's laid out and seems to have what I need. But it will be my first 5th wheeler. I currently have a 2005 coachman " Spirit of America" TT.

Thanks
Jeffrey
  • It's an entry level because of the quality of materials and the R-7 insulation in the walls, floor and ceilings.
  • We had a Springdale (2003) and yes, it is what most term an "Entry" level rig. Don't let that scare you. Depending on how you plan to use it, it may be exactly what you need.

Ours always worked...didn't have any mechanical issues in the 5 years or so we had it. It did however develop a leak in the slide roof that went undetected until the roof and wall were severely rotted. Nothing noticeable inside the rig until it was too late.

It was our first 5th wheel and it taught me a lot!
  • We had a Springdale TT for 8 years. Not a problem. Forget about lables. If you like it it doesn't matter one pile of horse dokey what any one else thinks.
  • Entry level is based on price. Many people confuse high price = high quality, and that simply is not true in all cases. I've seen some very nice, high quality units that didn't have a big price tag on them. In fact, I bought one this last spring. If it is the floor plan you like and the price is right, don't let the term entry level throw you. Do your research on how it is constructed, and if it is to your standards, don't look back. Get it and enjoy.
  • 56Jeff, as others mentioned (and I'll repeat!) don't be put off by the entry level category that Keystone uses. The appliances in the entry, mid and to an extent, even some upper level models are all the same.

Wife and I are 100% satisfied with our 2013 247FWRLLS. The floorplan is perfect for us. Some better insulation would be nice but for the price, can't beat it. Last 2 years (we purchased at start of new year models in August 2012), we were out every month, stayed in the trailer 31 night each year.

In time, we will want more galley counter space and the insulation but are in no hurry to change. I've looked at other models since purchasing, but haven't found anything that meets our needs better, especially at the price.

    Good luck with your search.
  • They're entry level due to material, quality, features. You wouldn't want it if you're planning to become a full-timer, though just my opinion. Don't let entry level deter you. My first was entry level and the family enjoyed then got a Outback fiver which we never had any real issues and worked great in cold winter temps. I learned alot! But, then you grow older and find you need more amenities.
  • I'll add my 2 cents. We have a Springdale 253FWRLLS and love it. No problems. We have used it early in the spring and late in the fall with no problems staying warm. We're in Nebraska.

Works great for us. I'd happily recommend it to you.

  • No real issues with my 2006. Still works well after nine years.
The new model sure have more nice features. Plan to run this another six plus years.

Only regret was not reviewing the options list when order was placed.
Just picked the interior color and the rest was to be same as the one on the lot.
