5 wire to 4 wire trailer light converter

I have an Class A Diesel Pusher RV with separate signal lights, and my trailer does not. I have installed a Reese trailer light converter Walmart $21) to remedy this problem.
The first converter lasted 5 years. The second lasted less than a week. (Currently, it works intermittently.) I need to have brake lights.
Everything works correctly: trailer brakes and tail/clearance lights.
Anyone had this issue?
Wife follows in a car, that is how I know they are working intermittent.
Thanks in advance!

Check the ground connections on both the trailer and the RV. It will be the white wire on both ends. With a bad ground on either side, the circuit will try to complete the ground thru the hitch frequently causing an intermittent signal.

I would verify the connections. It could be a corroded or poor connection to the tailight converter on the input or output.

Sounds like a bad or broken connection........probably inside molded piece.

Just buy a new adapter
Is it time for your medication or mine?
