50 amp plug
being new to 50 amp hook up, does anyone use a 90 degree adapter at the side of your unit to receive the strain on the receptacle? anyone have problems from the pressure on the receptacle? Thanks.

- As far as the usefulness of the 90 degree adapter goes....I did have an issue with my original straight Marinco plug...it lost the neutral wire within the connector causing all sorts of issues within the RV, no damage though. It was at this time I decided the weight and strain on that contact was relatively high so when replacing the cord end, I also got the 90 degree accessory. No further problems in roughly 10 year's of use but maybe I wouldn't have had problem's anyways...:)

Same here. the 90 degree hook-up does look neater to me but I don't see it really serving a purpose. We are full timers for going on 6 years and never a problem.- Thanks for the input
- I use it and like it, no problems with it. It's nice to have it hanging straight down and out of the way. Not a big deal but nice.
- Probably a good idea. But have never used one in 8 yrs and no problem with my 50 amp cord.
- I use the 90 degree adaptor also. I didn't want to put undue stress on the cord or connector. works well, I also have a 30 amp cord with the marinco end that I attach to it when I only have 30 amp service
- I have used the 90 degree adapter since day one on our Montana and I like it and have had no issue at all. That cord is heavy and I think long term is will keep the receptacle in better shape.
- I upgraded to SO cable, far less strain as the cable is softer it hangs with less leverage.
- Over time you will experience the molded plug pulling away from the shield on the wire itself. This happened to me, I use one religiously. New cords are several $$$$$. I prefer to use a cord with the molded plug for greater water protection.
- I have the Marinco one for mine and I like it but here's the thing, check the alignment on the connection otherwise it won't be hanging straight down like you think, mine is off by 90 degree's but because its molded as a complete unit, I still use it as a strain relief. Changing my connection on the MH to align with it, is too much trouble..otherwise I would .
