5th wheel hitch

I am getting ready to but 5th wheel hitch, on Amazon. Looking at Curt 16616 or 16516. They mention 16 roller and 5 roller, what does this mean? Does anyone have one of these? They are sliding hitches. Haven't used 5th wheel before. Have a 2004 GMC 2500hd SLT, with 6.5 foot bed. 29 foot Dutchman 5th wheel, weighs 7330 unloaded, with GVW 10560. Would appreciate any information or suggestions. Married male and will be camping alone, at times. Wife likes to camp, but in fall, I stay in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Can send to my email, if you want fisherjack36@yahoo.com. Thanks, Jack
  • I have the Curt 16 with a slider in my 2014 2500 Chevy. I bought it through Amazon and love it. Also, the price was better than anywhere else. I installed it myself. No problem. Would bought it again. I am not sure the need of the slider but is better safe than sorry, so far no need for it.
  • Can someone explain the difference between a slider and a manual slider?
  • I have had the 16516 in my 2003 F250 and it has been great. I've seen a lot of complaints about the comparable Reese slider due to noise from the hitch movement. So far so good from the Curt hitch. I ordered mine from Hitch Anything and received it two days after placing the order.
  • I have the Curt Q20 slider hitch. Not sure what package model number it is, but it's a great hitch and very solid and secure. There are fail safes built in so you can't high-hitch.
    Good luck.
  • I purchased the Curt 16616 package. For the price (do some searching) it has twice the warranty and more lateral movement (10 degrees)than other hitches. The locking mechanism is easy to look at and verify that it is secure. The rails are pretty beefy compared to some I've seen. I would definitely use their rails. The slider mechanism has worked great.
  • Buy a hitch that matches the towing specs of your truck and not the specs of your trailer. There are several reasons for doing so: 1. It allows you to tow anything that your truck is capable of towing. (Next door neighbors rig or whatever) 2. It allows you to upgrade to a larger trailer that your truck is capable of towing.
