5th Wheelers in Australia slowly getting accepted

Not crazy about the shiny ceilings and the tacked on look of the rear trim ,I do like the large swing out windows.

Sunliner is primarily a Class C motorhome builder. That is what their Motorhomes also look like.

Interesting concept under the pin of the Pacific rv. Not sure about all the white in the interiors, wouldn't stay that way around here for very long.

These are mainly bought by couples not families. One general complaint of US 5vers cabins is that they are too dark. That is why the white interiors with easy to clean surfaces.

So, other than being cheaply built boxes on wheels (no offense to any owners intended), what led to the negative impressions of US built among Aussies?

Where do I start, very long list. Yes the very poor build quality in many units(not high end models not so much) was not a good look. US 5vers had suspensions that failed in Australian conditions, they all needed reinforcing. Unacceptable interior appintments, appliances, wiring and doors needed modification. Another problem was hitches cracking.Unlike a lot of Caravans could not do too much dirt road towing.

I look forward, some day, to a healthy US market in pre-owned Aussie imports :)

In the USA I very often see 5ths traveling down dirt roads into remote destinations. I myself have done this many times. However, most of the trailers in these locations are either older units or somewhat lower end. Nobody wants to take a high end trailer down wash board dirt roads, through mud etc. I've never once had any trouble caused by dirt roads with a US made trailer.

mileshuff. We tend to have a lot more dirt roads and some really rough Off Road terrain... Not uncommon for people to do 15000 kilometres a lot of that Off Road. That is why some companies have developed Off Road 5vers. Normal 5vers would disintegrate.

Not sure AUS has more dirt roads and rough off road terrain! Tend to think perhaps the USA has more paved roads and highways. Meaning, in the USA you can travel extensively all on pavement. But the dirt roads and rugged off road terrain is abundant for those that seek it. Much of it way too rough to take a large trailer into no matter how well built. Instead, there are many brands of trailers especially made for off road. They are rather small which is needed to get into tight backwoods areas. I do travel with my 5th wheel down graded mountain logging roads to remote lakes and streams but trailer is far too large to tackle anything else. Biggest problem I've had is fine dust getting inside.
