6 point auto levelers with JT strong arms

I drove by dealership this am and saw a new Open Roads fiver that had the hydraulic automatic leveling system. It has stabilizer arms attached to the front and rear. Are they really needed for this type of system. I ask because I just got a new fiver that has the 6 point auto leveler. Long story about getting a new fiver. I may post it later.

Also, for those of you that have the 6 point auto leveler, do you re level after a few days due to settling? If so, how do YOU do it? Do you just use the manual mode? I don't think I would want to do the auto level procedure with the slides out.
  • FWIW several people with the leveling systems have commented that they still use something like the JT Strongarms to make the trailer more solid feeling.
  • I don’t use JT strongars as the slight giggles don’t bother me. I do use manual mode to re level.
  • Level and stable are to different functions. You can be level and not stable or you can be stable and not level.
Strong arms and 6 point level systems are 2 different items used for 2 different reasons/purposes
  • Levelers stop the point where the leveler is from moving up and down.

They don't stop fore&aft or side to side movement (at least not much).
  • Thanks for the answers. The system seems to be more stable than my old fiver. I can't see on my LCI system where I could add stabilizers very easily. The one in the lot appeared to have a different foot so it may have been another brand. The other day I was using the system manually and I lifted the curb side tires right off the ground. I did not mean to do that so I brought it right back down but I am still learning the ins and outs of the system. Seems simple for the most part but still a few things to learn about it. Any hints are welcome>
  • Contact Steadyfast, they make a great stabilizer that is easy to use. They have many options and they will help you every step of the way. When I installed ours the owner of the company called me on a Sunday to see how the install was going, now that's service.
  • Buddy of mine from TX had JT's on his Cedar Creek which also had the 6 pt level up. He said it made the coach more stable. Had JT's on our old coach as it had just electric jacks up front and scissor jacks in back. Difference was night & day. New coach which is 6 feet longer has the 6 pt level up and yes has some wiggle, but nothing we cannot live with or that I'd add JT's too.
  • I has the BAL version on my last fiver. I had two on each jack--little overkill-- but it worked. Steadyfast looks like the ones I saw on the New Open Roads I saw in the dealer lot.
