I do the same thing. My wife always looks at me funny but it makes me feel better. - Mike_LAExplorer

Dedmiston, I agree, one whack. But if that thief doesn’t bring a hammer or bolt cutter... I don’t want to be the easiest target of opportunity.
I carry full coverage insurance on my boat, utility trailers and travel trailer(TH). These are material items and can be replaced. That's not to say I don't try to protect them against theft and damage. If I were to park them away from my sight for an extended time, I'd do what's necessary to prevent such things. - Mike_LAExplorerOpps!!!!!!!!!!'Let's try that again.:E

- dedmistonModeratorI got to camp once and didn't have the keys to my tongue lock. One whack with a hammer and it was unlocked.

Had to look into how the flip jack worked. Like it. Do you feel like its strong enough Mike?
Yes, I do. It rated at a Max Tongue Weight of 1400 Lbs.Just a note....I installed one of those Fastway Flip Jacks on our rig...used it twice. On its third use it collapsed and dropped my trailer tongue on the ground....(I had the heavy duty model rated for much more weight than my scaled, loaded tongue weight.)
This is the third Flip Jack I've purchased, with no problems at all. That's not to say there may be defects with anything made.
Called Fastway...they wanted pictures and the jack back to send to their R and D dept. They refunded my money with lots of apologies.
Verdict: faulty weld on the plate that the tongue jack sits on.All look good but I prefer a padlock on the coupler. Anything to slow down a thief.
No need to lock it. It's stored in my back yard inside an enclosed metal building when not in use. Besides, padlocks are no good with a persistent thief.
If I were to park it somewhere unattended,I would do what's necessary to secure it from theft. - eDUBzExplorer

You lock your trailer coupler? - LwiddisExplorer IIAll look good but I prefer a padlock on the coupler. Anything to slow down a thief.
