Adventures in Used RV's Here in The Forrest! Amazing!

Hi Guys, I am in the market for a used fiver or truck camper and hit the CL ads many times a day. I am in Deschutes County Oregon and this seems to be for many reasons, RV central. I have seen some unreal deals on CL and passed already on some I should have just bought and resold. With my sleep apnea I am always up for a few hours every night around 2 or 3 AM. Last night was no different and I checked the RV section on my local area CL and found nothing new. At 7 AM I found this ad. Called in and the sale was being handled by somebody out of state who gave me the local number for a lady who wants this big fiver towed away yesterday! I raced over there as fast as my 6.0L V8 would take me but the unit was sold just minutes before I arrived. Pretty cool! As I was turning my truck around I could eyeball the rig way in the back. Wishing I had taken a quick shot of it for the curiosity... If the link shows the ad deleted I got a screen shot of the ad just for fun...

Just an example of what I am finding here!

Hunters Special is what I thought too. Plenty of people have land where they could drop the thing in its final resting place. Cheaper than building a shed, blind, sheep camp, or MIL quarters.

The link doesn't work but if it's a 30yr old trailer (presumably with no slideouts) with leaks, that sounds like a hunters special that you basically give away.

Add in an iffy title and it just doesn't make any sense to mess around with it.

There are plenty of options for just a few grand.

Yeah, I hadn't even thought of the lien aspect of no title.

I see it all the time around here on the local "Swap-and-shop" web sites. They always say "No title, but easy to get a replacement/duplicate", and I always think "If it's so easy, why didn't you do it already?".

If it's easy to get a title, they should take care of that little detail before the sale.
I agree. No title, no sale...how do you know it wasn't stolen or if it has a lien against it that you could be stuck with??

The ad says that they think everything works, but not sure. Not being in the used trailer business I don't know what a 30 year old 5th wheel would sell for but I don't think 30 year old appliances could be worth a whole lot if you decided to part it out.

A person might be able to make some money on it, but I don't think it would be a slam dunk unless you value your time at $0. I do think there are some deals out there, but I'm not sure this is "The One". 🙂

For the people who still have skills necessary it could be a great deal. Others that can't even do maintenance on their own it would not be a bargin at any price. I would want a title before I put in any money to repair.

I'm pretty sure one could make a few bucks on that deal easily just by parting it out or sink a few dollars into it and have a pretty nice fiver in the end.

So you pay $200 and it's a can of worms - so now YOU have to get rid of it. You'll probably end up paying someone more than that to take it away.

If the camper was in 100% perfect shape and the offer was $200 OBO, I'd never even remotely consider it without a title. That's a REAL can of worms to open up!

You're a braver man than I. Anytime I see "leak" "dry rot" I run and hide. To me those signal possible money pit.
