Just upgraded from the Tow Max to the S637 Saliuns. Looking for a recommendation for an air compressor for ST235/85R16 G Tires 110 Max PSI to carry with us. Would prefer a 12V model do to smaller size and weight.

Thanks for the info. Not sure I want to spend the $$$ on a nice Viair. Not looking to fill tires from zero to 110psi. Looking for the ability to add a few pounds of air when checking tire pressure if they are a little low from temperature or elevation changes or simply loosing a few lbs after sitting for a while. I.E. 95lbs to 105lbs.

Any recommendations for a easy to use compressor for this situation or is the Viair 400/450 the best way to go

I debated about spending the money on the Viair. I've owned cheap compressors that struggled to get close to the pressures your talking about. The Viair works very well for your application.
If you can afford it I would go for the Viair. It will likely be the last compressor you'll buy.

The cfm ratings are usually at a much lower pressure then you are needing for G tires, as such the little compressors will take a long time to 90-110 a tire. 35-50 on the same tire will be useable. Another option is CO2 - powertank and the like.

I wouldn't buy the "Slime" brand of air compressor from Wal-Mart. I bought one to throw in the wife's truck since it was cheap. Well I ended up using it myself when she was home to top off our trucks, fill the lawn tractor tires, wheelbarrow tire, etc. It lasted through about 10-15 uses before it threw the rod through the side of the housing. I think it would do fine for emergency use, but not occasional use.

If you're just adding a few pounds of air, or the occasional fill, the MV50 model (half of the Q89 compressor) has top ratings on the 4x4 forums.

$60 at Walmart:

Still capable of supplying 150 PSI, but does require connection directly to a battery.

Not all 12V compressors are created equal. If it plugs into a cigarette lighter outlet, it's fine for bike tires. It'll take way too long to fill truck tires.

ViAir is the industry leader of high quality 12V air compressors. The downside is the price.

I bought a less expensive, but very capable Q89 dual piston air compressor. It connects directly to the battery of your vehicle, and draws 45 Amps. Delivers 3.17 CFM (compare that to any portable 120VAC compressor), and can deliver 150 PSI.

I've had mine 8 years, and added an external tank and a pressure switch.

Lowest price I can find is $109. I have no affiliation with anyone! Here's the source: http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/masterflow-superflow-mv-89-mf-1089-air-compressor-mv-89g.html

Here is a great selection from Hornblasters. I actually have 2 ViAir compressors mounted on the frame for a 200 psi air system.

Check these portable air compressors out Air Compressors

I have this one: http://www.factoryauthorizedoutlet.com/porter-cable/porter-cable-165-psi-4-gal-compressor

I can air up my G614 tires to 110 psi and my truck tires to 80 psi quickly. I do have an onboard generator so it easy for me to use even when boondocking, but 12v compressors are way too slow for me.

Yep, plus you got air stored. I use it to inflate my inflatable boat and that takes LOTS of air.
