Andersen Ultimate Hitch /King Ping Stabalizer ?

How-d folks

I just ordered a new Andersen Ultimate Hitch #3200 (for the rails) to replace our Reese.

Here is the question. We sometime use A tripod kig-pin stabilizer b/c we have a rear loft FW with stairs and we get a tad worn out feeling that little wiggle at the front of the camper from the kids going up and down. We also have JT installed.

Having this new setup, how could this tripod be modified to work or if have one and come up with something different, we are all ears.

Thank you.

RR
  • If you've got the JTs take the kingpin stabilizer and throw it in the trash. Bet the JTs handle 95% of the wiggle. Not worth the hassle to lug around the kingpin stabilizer IMO.

or if you have one with the "cup" that the king pin sits in you could use a some plate steel weld a section of pipe to fit in the cup and either weld or bolt a ball onto the opposite side of the plate.

Thank you DirtyOil....would you mind taking a little more time with your post and give me a little more detail? I have the cup version that is pretty adjustable and know a few folks that can weld. I think you are on to something I just cannot vision it on your post.

    Thank you!!

    Here you go RollingRockTX:

one could either bolt it together or better yet weld the tubing and ball to the plate. The tubing diameter smaller then the tripod "cup" so as to slide inside the cup, drill holes into tubing to match holes in cup for "locking pin".

That is awesome thank you for taking the time to do that. I kind of figured it out but this visual is very helpful.

    Thanks again!!

This type of goose-neck stabilizer would be great - except that all of the one's I've seen are too short to reach up to our Andersen adapters on the pin box. The modification suggestion is the only way I can think of to make things work.

You are right as it being on the "short" side, but I added some tubing, removed the "lower bracing" and added lengthened chains to the feet.

I have the x chocks as well, they help but the wiggle from the back to the front is only bad when they go up and down the stairs. The stairs happen to be the furthest back.
