Another rubber roof question......confused.

In doing research to see what I need to do to my rubber roof I keep reading that unless the cross hatched weave of the fabric is showing it probably does not need re coated or replaced yet.
The white of my roof is wearing off and I can see the black underneath in spots. However I don't really see a woven fabric, just a smooth rubber. Is this rubber I am seeing what some are referring to as the "woven fabric"?
Thanks!
  • Once I finally got around to ordering supplies to re-coat the roof, part of it was to clean it before coating with TSP (a cleaner, find it at a paint store).

Once cleaned a lot more of the roof came off. Then I had wished I had started about 2 years earlier. There would have been more of the original roof strength and thickness left under the new coating.

So my advice? Do it NOW!

If for no other reason than the re-coated roof will have NO White Streaks! Making it worthwhile even if the RV is only a couple of years old.
