Anyone own a Bayhill by Evergreen?

We are going in 2 weeks to pickup our new 2014 Bayhill 340RK. This unit is Brand New never sold but it is a repossession from a dealership out eastern Canada. We are trading in our 2012 heartland sundance that we had planned on keeping for a few more years, but retirement plan was updated to the end of this year. After 38 years as a LEO it's time to pack it in.
Has anyone here owned a Bayhill fiver or an evergreen fiver? If so how do you find the service provided by your dealer on any warranty issues? We really haven't seen much information about this RV, but we sure do like the fit and finish of the unit. We have been in this unit twice, and the second time we spent about 2 hours going over it with a fine toothed comb so to speak. We noted all things we found that needed attention, and gave the list to the dealer and service department. We are also having slide toppers installed on all of the slides.

We were able to also arrange for 3 nights camping at the campgrounds that is attached to the dealership, because we want to put it through its paces before we bring it home.

This is our hopefully, last unit and look forward to many years of fun and relaxing times in it. We do realize that we will have maintenance and repairs that we all have on any RV, but now will have the time to do it without a time schedule.

Looking forward to having a rear kitchen again with all the extra space and storage.
  • One of the really serious problems with the Bay Hill line was (and maybe still is) the propane delivery system. If you smell leaking propane, chances are you are having propane blowback. The propane line from the single tank on the trailer's door side to the two tanks on the other side were installed improperly. The lines were inverted and needs to be dealt with immediately. At first my service provider thought it was simply a leaking regulator, but a propane specialist at the repair facility determined immediately what the problem was.

You were concerned about the fresh water tank. I'm on my third fresh water tank, the first one simply fell out and the second one became deformed after the original selling dealership used cheap straps and did not replace the angle-iron frame.

Slides will also be an issue as you've no doubt determined. Make sure to keep them well lubed and if you hear a popping sound, you'll know that the bearings are bad and you'll be in for some major repair issues.

  • Winter neighbors of ours own one for two years. They thought the black tank needed empty too soon. They had it flushed and then a they hired a guy with a scope. Found that the dump valve was installed in such a way that it left about a third of the tank still full and can't come out. They are not happy.

Thank you for the link as well as the information you provided. The unit we purchased does not have the tankless water heater (dodged that problem) and we have requested that they open up the bottom of the unit and check for straps on the tanks. We did read all 48 pages and did notice those were pretty much a repeated problem that it looks like they have corrected, but we don't want a tank falling out, hence the request to check it out.
We also have looked at many posts and videos on the schwentec slide problems and it seems that the problems are with all manufacturers who use these types of slides.
We do expect to have a few annoying problems but hopefully ones we can correct ourselves and if not a trip to a repair shop will be made.

Glad you are having things looked at and the dealer is willing to do it. We really liked ours, but with the problems the dealer wasn't very helpful. They worked on our tank 3 separate times and it was never "fixed" is the main reason we got rid of it. Having a good dealer makes a huge difference. Best of luck to you and happy travels.

Here's a lot of info for you. 49 pages worth.

We owned one for a year (we posted on the link above). Although very nice on the outside, how it was put together was very lacking. Our main problem was the fresh water holding tank as was others. If you read the IRV2 forum, you will see what I am talking about. Also, if it has the tankless water heater, it can be very frustrating as it is near impossible to get it working properly. Luckily it didn't effect our unit, but their were several instances of slide problems. Hopefully you won't have too many issues, but be prepared for potential problems (as in any new RV).
