Atwood water heater won't light. High pitch sound.

Experienced trailer owner, out for the first trip in our new Keystone Bullet. Every thing is tip top, but the water heater makes a high pitch sound, but won't light on gas or electric.

Cabin light on control panel switch doesn't light when I flip on either gas or electric, but there's a high pitch sound at the heater. It's an electric sound, not pressure.

Had the same Atwood heater in my old trailer, but never had this happen. Wouldn't think its a fuse issue, or else it wouldn't make that pitch sound.

Any suggestions?

That would explain when using propane

OP stated sound on electric or propane :H

  • Light on control panel is a 'fault light'.....should only light when:
Propane fails to light or ECO (High temp t-stat operates/OPENS)

    Sound......?????

Never hear of one making a high pitch sound

Is WH tank full of water?
Have you turned it on propane and have it light off?
Have you left it on electric with tank empty?

Have heard electric elements crackle when covered with calcium/deposits

    High pitch sound is strange.
Can you pin point noise to inside rv/backside of WH OR in outside compartment.
  • Sound is telling you that propane is selected and the flame is out.
    Art.
