Auto slide hitch question

We want to get an auto slide hitch. The problem we are running into is with our Reese 5th Airborne extended pinbox. I would prefer a Pullrite, but the capture plate reccomended by Pullrite is a universal one that requires bending and welding. Demco have a specific capture plate for this pinbox, model 6062 which simply bolts on and off. The dealer assured me that the Demco capture plate will work with the Pullrite hitch.
Do any forum members have any experience using a Demco capture plate with a Pullrite hitch. If it is not compatible we will go with the Demco Hijacker hitch.

Thanks pipewelder. Yes, I have spoken to Nick. He advised me about drilling, tapping AND trimming. By chance was your Airborne the regular profile instead of the extended? The regular is higher and shorter. The extended is much longer, especially the plate which is 20 inches long.
I appreciate everyone's help, but when Nick at Pulliam tells me the capture plate needs to be "trimmed", and the dealer tells me that metal as thick as the capture plate will most likely have to be cut with a torch, well, this is why I would REALLY, REALLY like to find out if the Demco capture plate which is an exact fit will work with the Pullrite.

My airborne used a bolt on, they just drilled and tap it. The installer did call Pullright before hand to make sure he did it by their recommendations. I would call Nick with PullRight yourself on the Demco,

Ive used Pullrght on 2 different trailers and they used the weld on capture. Ive never heard of your problem. I have a friend thar had the universal bolt on. I really liked the way it worked. Afraid im not much help. I would go with Pull Right recommendations.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I was in fact in contact with Pulliam. The issue here is that the pinbox is not the standard Airborne, but the extended Airborne. I received a reply from Nick who advised that the pinbox would require drilling and tapping, and the front of the "universal" capture plate would require "trimming". The plate is thick enough that "trimming" would likely require a cutting torch. The dealer that ordered the hitch and universal plate advised me that he didn't want to make a "Frankenstein" mess and advised that the custom Demco capture plate would be a perfect fit, would attach and remove easily, and would be infinity more appropriate to my application.
What I would really like to find out from any forum members is if the Demco capture plate will work with the Pullrite hitch. The dealer advises me that it will, but I would far rather have this verified by a fellow forum member.

Pullrite hasn't used weld on capture plates in awhile. Call them directly and see what they have. Don't waste your time talking to a dealer. They have excellent customer service.

Pullrites chart shows a quick capture plate available for the 5th airborne. You'll need to call Pullrite and take some measurements of your king pin to verify fitment. The quick capture plate installs with just one bolt. Very easy.

Never wanted a Pull Rite capture plate that requires bending and welding. They have universal and quick connect. Call Pull Rite with the model of your pinbox and see what they recommend.
