Axel issue

Last week, after returning from a short trip, we stored the toyhauler. When backing it into place it was slightly uphill and sandy soil. Today, while inspecting it, I noticed the middle tires are touching the rear tires. If I pull it forward, will the middle axel return to place or will I have to lift it and push the axel into place? Weight in the toyhauler was minimal at the time.

Thank you for any suggestions/advice.

Finally got the toyhauler back in shape. We took it in to the dealership for the tire/axle issue and the bedroom slide that would not extend or retract unless we began the process manually.

The two middle tires (235-85-16)were slightly larger than the end tires (235-80-16). In order to get it to the dealership, I replaced the larger tire with a smaller one which gave us enough space to get it there safely.

The dealership measured the spacing and did not find anything wrong. As to the slideout, which by the way was supposed to be under the extended warranty, they said it was a "pinched cable" and not covered by the warranty, go figure, (should have put the money into the emergency funds instead). And since it was way overdue for new tires, we had them install 6 new Sailuns. Time will tell if that was a good decision

Are the tires the correct size? Axles will twist and bend and the distance between the tires will reduce a small amount but if the tires are too big then they will touch under torque.

I still don't understand what the problem was with the tires. Sounds like you're saying they were touching because they were too big????

Please explain.

In order to get the camper to the repair shop. I replaced the middle
tire with a 235=8016 which allowed enough space. All six tires were replaced with Sailuns 637-80-16

They measured the axles and deemed them to be ok, The bedroom slider, which was to be under warranty, they said it had a pinch cable and not under warranty and the living room slider blew
a few fusses. Problem was the middle slider was working perfectly $2386 including tires.

I will appeal this process with Cornrstone warranty

Have you mounted the spare in place of the bad tire with no change? It might be a good idea to look into a set of new tires as your RV is a 2010 and the tires are a minimum of 5 years old (If OE)once the suspension problem is cured. It would be to your advantage to post some pics of the suspension and maybe someone here might see the problem and save you a trip to the RV shop. (Plus you may learn something in case this happens on the road.

Thank you for the responses. I did crawled under and did not see anything missing or broken. The middle axle looks just like the other two, just that the tires seem to have shifted back a few inches. I placed a call and requested a date to drop it off at the repair shop, GRWRV. I will post pictures of the axles as soon as I can.

If it happened when backing up it could be that the rear axle is the one that moved. It could also be that the opposite side of the middle axle moved forward. Prob a broken spring hanger or 3. Fairly common.

I don't understand why he's towing it at all. What went wrong? Maybe nothing other than ramming it onto unsuitable ground.

. . . After moving the toyhauler back and forth a few times, the tires separated a little. While inspecting the other tires, I found threat separation on driver side rear tire, which I replaced with spare tire.
Rather than having it tow to repair shop, I was thinking of removing the middle tires and bring it to the shop myself. Any advise is welcome. Traveling distance is 12 miles. We are staying put until March. By then, it will be sporting Sailun or GY.
If it was my rig, there's no way I would tow it on a public highway until I crawled underneath to verify the exact cause of the mis-alignment beforehand.

A broken weld? Broken/bent shackle/hanger? Missing suspension bolt? Broken/loose u-bolts? Broken/bent spring?

If the problem is completely isolated to the middle axle, it *may* be safe to tow it with the middle tires/wheels removed. Hard to say for sure without seeing your suspension firsthand.

You can probably tow your rig a short distance, unloaded, with the center wheel removed. I'd check to see what's loose though, you don't want the tire on the other side sliding back like that one did. Keep us posted.
