Just curious but how do you know the brakes are just 3500 lbs on a 4400 lb axle ??
This email to me from Dexter axle as some newby folks thought because the trailers axle had the same diameter/width brakes they were all the same. I would s'pect the 4400-3500 axle brakes are similar.

While the 5.2, 6 & 7K brakes are all 12x2 in size they do have different lining material, magnets and reinforcement of the metal backing plates. Thanks ......Jim Miller / Dexter Axle**
I pulled them apart. The part numbers on the braking plates match TruRyde 3500# brake assemblies.
The axles are LCI axles. As we all know, anything goes with them.
