Best Roads in Western Wyoming

I'll soon be pulling my 5th Wheel West on I-80 thru Southern Wyoming.
Destination is Pocatello, Idaho. I'd like to avoid taking I-80 and
I-84 to Ogden, Utah and then up to Pocatello. I'd like to leave I-80
just West of Little America in Southwest Wyoming and take Highway 30
Northwest to Pocatello. My question: has anyone driven Highway 30
along this route that can attest to it's compatibility with a large
5th Wheel? I normally wouldn't sweat it, but I know that this is
pretty remote country. Thanks, Jon
  • It is easily doable. Just take your time. Pulled my 35 footer over it.

You would get more response if you put it in the "Roads and Routes" folder.
  • wyoroads.info

Has lots of info about WY roads and travel. Suggestions are watch your fuel gauge and keep your fuel topped up. Fuel stations are sometimes quite far apart. I stay over night and eat at Little America but best fuel price will be in Rock Springs. I never pass up the 50 cent cone in Little America.
  • That route is actually the route most cross country trucks take if they are not headed for Utah. You will be fine.
It is not that remote. There is a 'Flying J' in Cokeville, WY. and several other truck stops between there and Pocatello. Don't sweat it.
  • It will be a much better trip than using I-84, more scenery and no more difficult than driving on any other 2-lane road. Just don't get excited and mash the accelerator and you'll be fine.
