Well got a great opportunity to get some correctly sized Steel angle to build a pin box mount for a bike rack. The steel was free from a job site I was at in Detroit (site super gave it to me), seems it was something not needed. That was the first time in a while that TSA inspected my suit case!!!Just a quick simple design, welded up by a local welding shop. Currently waiting on our new Swagman XC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack.Waiting for paint to fully setup before bolting on.

Nice job. You will like it as it keeps the bikes secure and up out of the way. And no bouncing up there either.I made mine slightly different using the pin box bolts so that I would not have to drill into my air ride pin box. But end result is similar.

I can't visualize where an how this works. A photo would be nice.

Doesn't that setup constrict your turning radius?

No, the bikes are in front of the pin and move back when you turn. Plus they are not near as wide as the trailer.Looks real nice Russ

Likely 2" to 3" would be safe with as little movement the bikes have. The handle bar of the inside bike just touches the front cap. I may play with placement moving each bike out from center a bit more. Because of the location at the pin box, bounce is almost zero, movement is more a small wiggles, not bouncing like bumper hitches.

How much extra clearance do you need for the handle bars so you do not have to loosen and turn the bars? Did you try swapping the bikes to see if the other bike's bars are shorter? If you could get by with shorter bars and brake/shifters have room to slide in a bit, use a pipe cutter to the bars equally on each side to make slightly shorter.

That looks really slick. This will probably stem most theft ideas too. The trailer front sure is shiny. Enjoy!

I towed with it for the 1st time today, short trip to local SP where we host. There was almost no movement of the bikes or the rack! Easy to load and unload from the bed of the TV, and no clearance issues.

Nicely done! You'll enjoy them being there. Very similar to the one I built for our Sandpipers. Worked really well and still does for the new owner.

I hired out the welding, I did layout the cuts on the angle iron, and had the assembly clamped together when i took to the welder. He welded it up and punched the four mounting holes, he was going to charge me $30 for it, I paid him $40 as he got it done same day and a great job.

ON EDIT: This is how I delivered to the welder.

Nice setup! Wish I had the welding skills to tackle this. I've looked for a mount to buy but no such luck.

Well Time for an update!

Got our Swagman XC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack put together today, and took it over to the 5er too see how it fit! :h

Her are a couple pictures of the rack mounted with the bikes, no issues with cab clearance. The only issue was inside bike handle bar touched the front cap. I simply loosened and turned slightly.

Mine might have looked more like yours, but I got the angle Iron for free! It was two pieces just the correct size and taller than wide.
I had carried the bikes once laying down in the bed behind the hitch, decided I got lucky, as later, no bikes in bed, I hung up the break away cable on the hitch backing into my space! No a fun experience!!!

Have a Swagman XC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount rack coming next week.
