I have a 2010 mobile suites, with the original 16" wheels and Goodyear G rated tires. After about 15 to 20k miles I had my first blowout. The tread still looked good. I installed Moryde IS after the first 3000 miles. I drive 60 to 65 mph. 17.5" wheels are now standard on Suites. What are opinions on changing my wheels to 17.5" and h rated tires, vs. just putting new g rated 16's back on. My bankroll says one thing, but I want to be safe...I may have just ran over a road hazard. Another question, I have 9/16 studs. Would they have to be changed, or can I get a 17.5" aluminum wheel that accepts my studs? As always, thanks for more advice

RicksonTruck.com sells a direct replacement 8 lug rim for the Ford, Dodge, and GM 16" rims, with 17.5" dual wheel configuration. I don't know if they have them in single applications or not.You can call them. Probably they will have a 9/16" hole, that is what was on my 1975 F-350 SRW supercab truck. 17.5" rims are going to have a much higher weight rating. Even E load range will be much higher weight rating than a E load range on a 16" rim. Check the load ratings, to see if you might need F or G or H load ranges. Rickson can get the 17.5" tires, but your local tire shop should have a better price including shipping. What is on Rickson's website are not up to date prices, as oil and rubber prices change monthly so do tire prices. Good luck on your purchase. You might also contact Mobile Suites. They probably are able to tell you the supplier name on the 2015 trailers, and they might be able to supply you with the correct 17.5" rims that fit your bolt pattern.Another source might be [www.etrailer.com]eTrailer.com They also sell replacement rims and brake systems. 2010 model year.........Were this original G614's?5-6 yrs. old depending on mfg. date.Seems you got good service from them.Trailer tires age out vs wear out.Have you weighed 5vr?Are the G tires overloaded........if not and have capacity no real need to change.Check out the Sailun S637 235/85R16 tires 'G' rated

Contact Scott at trailertiresandwheels.com. I changed my studs to 5/8 and went with Alcoa's and GY H 17.5" tires. Havemany thousands of mines they still look good. He does sell wheels with 9/16 holes. The 5/8 are a much better lug system. He has fresh tires and they come to you balanced and ready to install. I sold my tires wheels and spare on Craig's List for $1,000.

Before a summertime trip to Arizona in 2010, however, I called Scott at trailertiresandwheels.com and upgraded to the 17.5" Michelin XTAs. Our 2004 MS came with the 9/16" studs, and Scott supplied pre-mounted tires, wheels, center caps and 9/16" lug nuts for a bolt-on conversion. We ran the XTAs from 2010 until we traded the trailer for our current MS in May 2014 with never a problem. The conversion isn't cheap, but the peace of mind was well worth it to us!!The new Mobile Suites has 17.5" Goodyear G114s - so far, so good....Rusty

If that is the case, the difference to upgrade wheels and tires would be covered over time rather than stick with the G614.

I just put on another 5K on my GY H's and they still look new. The 15 MS will have them but NOT Alcoa's.:(

Thanks for all the input. I was weighed at Moryde, and at the time was ok, but pushing the tire load limit. Manufacture date was week 42 of 2008. So tread wear is not an issue, just age, so I will get 4 new tires. Just considering all options

Many of the Mobile Suite owners have used Scott at trailertiresandwheels.com including me to upgrade from the 16's to 17.5's. Most folks sold off the original wheels and tires to help defer some of the costs of the new tires and wheels. They either set the old set out in front of the trailer while in a rv park with a sign or used Craig's list, but they sold easily. I did not change the studs but had Scott send me wheels that would fit.

The 'G' tires are able to support 3750 lbs and the H tires 4805 lbs. Many of the trailers were carrying almost the 3750 or close to it on the street side tires, as that is the heavy side of the trailer. Gaining some extra cushion in the load range is helpful. Also I only purchased 4 new tires keeping my 16 inch spare as a spare.

Like bigdon just said, work with Goodyear on warranty and G114 replacements rather than G614's! That can cut down on tire cost a lot. If you have damage, get Goodyear to cover that, not your insurance company! Chris

Let me guess Ready2gonow they are Goodyear G614's. Take a look at MY PICTURES and you will see why I went to 17.5" tires and wheels from RICKSON. Best investment I ever make -- just the peace of mind. By the way Goodyear may still be paying claims on these blowouts. They did mine -- to the tune of 6K.
