boxed curtain valances
We need help! We are 1st timers & would like to clean the draperies & blinds, but we can't figure out how to remove the box valences on the windows without breaking them. Any suggestions?

- You might find that the drapes are fastened to the valance boxes with Velcro and can be easily removed. It's not an easy task to remove and replace the boxes.
Milt - Go to Home Depot and see if they have something for wood in the Loctite products. Loctite makes a product for screws going into metal so they probably make something for wood too.
That way you can get the screws out when you need to but they won't vibrate out on their own.
Cherry - Mine had an angle brace near the bottom and were screwed into the bottom of the cabinets with phillips head screws. These screws were pretty hard to find, they were right in the corners.
- Big bird, assuming the screws that get loose are into wood, try putting a wood toothpick in the whole, break it off flush, the screw your fastener back in, but don't over tighten. It may help if the hole has enlarged.
- Mine has Robertson screws(square head)...I used a long driver with my cordless drill.....tightened the one I kept in the 5ver and removed the ones I didn't like. Easier to put the blinds up and down.
- The real question is how to keep the damned screws tight. Sorry for diverting the thread.
- My Jayco TT had the box valances screwed into the ceiling. I'd stare at the suckers every morning in bed when i woke up.
- Like Old Duck says above...angle bracket.
Ours were secured with square head screws so I got a special screw driver (short one makes it easier to get into the tight space inside the valance)...the tip is square not phillips or slotted.. Home Depot.
